ChatGPT experiences global outage, OpenAI says working on a fix

Investing.com– ChatGPT experienced an outage on Wednesday morning as users from across the globe reported an inability to log into the artificial intelligence tool.

OpenAI acknowledged the outage in a post on social media site X, and said it was working on rectifying the issue.

“We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we’ll keep you updated!,” OpenAI’s official X account said.

Downdetector showed ChatGPT and OpenAi websites were facing possible problems, with a bulk of user reports being related to ChatGPT.

The company’s recently-released Sora AI model, which allows users to generate video from text prompts, also appeared to be affected by the outage.

Recent data showed ChatGPT has an average of 123 million daily active users, and is one of the most popular generative AI applications.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)-backed OpenAI had released the tool in late-2022, with the tool gaining over a million users within a day.

ChatGPT’s outage also follows outages in Meta’s Instagram and Whatsapp.
